Aslan Modir As you mentionned, learning methods have improved a lot. Image/signal processing using deep learning has been around for 10 years now roughly, and so far it only increased the necessity for experienced data scientists. Basic tasks which require no amount of innovation may go away, but the demand for people to develop, apply and modify these algorithms is huge.

I agree with Christian Schmidt. Instead of threatening the existence of the fields of Image/Signal Processing, advances in AI technology have further spurred the development of those fields. This is because AI methods are currently the core methods of those fields.
As for the job market, I agree that low-level tasks which require little to no expertise will be heavily impacted. However, most of the currently existing job positions in the fields are already basically "some guy who makes AI, which in turn does the actual work" (a.k.a. "Data Engineer" or "AI Engineer"). I don't think that AI would actually cause damage to the job market.
