Some research suggests that children in many countries think that "a princess" is white, and probably Western (or American). This image is probably due to the popularity of Disney films.

it is not only about Disney but the western popular culture (animes, picutre booklets and movies) that makes role-models for girls and boys.
Globally many girls and boys tend to stick to role models given by these youth media and playing material that is produced either in pink (Girls) or blue (Boys)...
There are even basic science and evident observations behind my notions, see

My question: among ALL of the many social problems that we have in the world, what is the relative importance of this one?
The underlying criticism is: why on earth do we have to coin stereotypes so early on girls and boys?!
We are talking about MINT (Math, engeneering, Natural sciences technology) subjects and careers in engineering (and overall careers) for women...
But girls are no pricesses, boys are no superheroes, only.
Why not boys which like like hores or girls that want to be fireworkers?! It is OK and healthy to break with stereotypes...
And it is about racism and Imperialism in countries where girls are normally not white and western...
Asia, Africa, Middle and south America...
Carsten Weerth As noble as the goal of gender equality is, what are the rights and responsibilities in this context? What is the role and extent of the government in intra-household of food for instance? Should the government run educational campaigns to change the hearts and minds of the citizens with regards to differential gender preferences?
Dear Joseph, you ASK if we should be concerned, and I gave arguments, why one could or must be worried...
