The guidelines for conducting clinical trials are directed towards industry and the academic researchers struggle to find what is applicable to academic research.. do you think there is need of separate guidelines for academic clinical trials?
I don't see any reason why academic clinical trials need a separate guideline. Clinical trials are the same - trial subjects, investigators, laboratories, ethics committee etc. are common and from the medical institution and approvals are granted by the regulatory/health authorities; the industry has no role whatsoever in these matters. Pharma/Healthcare industries are only the sponsors and facilitators of trials. In academic trials, the medical college/hospital itself is the sponsor. That does not necessitate a separate guideline!
