If the way a corporation pays its leadership begins to put them at a disadvantage with their competitors, they will lose market-share and decline.
The idea that this subject can be SOCIALLY DEBATED is misguided.
It suggests that the average person in the street has any concept of what corporations do or the relationship between CEO PAY and other factors.
There is a reason why we let the man-in-the-street vote for the President of the United States but we DO NOT let him have a say in who is going to be the next night shift manager at McDonald's.
We can put a series of buffoons in the White House with few real negative consequences, but we can't start having our businesses run by the blowhards, gasbags, and demagogues more interested in BEING SOMEBODY than DOING SOMETHING.
CEO pay is fine. We should be more concerned with how politicians all end up leaving Washington as millionaires.
