Not only it is carcinogenic, but you don't want to do extra-work and play with nasty chemicals if you could find it already made and ready to be used. This is my golden rule when it comes to safety and dangerous chemicals. Good luck
Definitely in liquid form. If for cell viability using hemocytometer - most methods call for 0.8 mM solution (or 0.4%) in buffer (e.g. PBS) and mixing cells 1:1 with trypan blue solution. Do not count after 30 minutes as dye toxicity may give you false positive results. Good luck with your experiments.
