Hey Im in the middle of doing a research proposal and I am suppose to decide on the statistical test but unfortunately I dont know which one to choose even after going over the lecture about them. Is anyone able to help?
The research is looking at The Prevalence of Repetitive stress injuries in board game players
Objectives:
1. To determine what type of injuries these players in Jamaica suffer from
2. To determine if there is a direct relationship between hours spent practicing and development of their injuries.
3. To determine if there is a relationship between the number of years spent practicing and the development of their injuries
4. To compare the prevalence of injuries/symptoms in recreational players vs professional players.
5. To determine if these athletes have sought medical attention for their injuries.
So this study will be carried out through survey. Im thinking of either chi square or maybe regression? I could be sorely wrong
Hi, i'm not an expert but i think to find correlation between two variables, you could use pearson's or spearman. However to compare (objective no 4) if the variables are divided into two categories i think you could use chi square. For objectives no 1&5 i think those could be determined through univariate analysis. Regression analysis are used to find the correlation between all your independent variables and dependent variable combined in the same analysis. So, in your case, after your bivariate analysis of number of years and hours of practicing you can analyze both combined at the same time using regression (this is up to you)
However from my answers you need to find the criteria of each statistical test because if it doesn't meet the criteria, you would need to change the statistical test. I hope this helps😊🙏
