Hi Małgorzata,
Being one of the many people who have struggled with analyzing the data from IPAQ I would advise using another alternative; GPAQ by the WHO.
It has similar questions, they merged domestic chores with professional activity (which reduces the number of questions), and they fixed the IPAQ's problem when trying to analyze moderate intensity activities.

this is a very valid request. The IPAQ performs terribly in any population. We modified the IPAQ on our own. You could do this too with some qualitative work (cognitive interviewing), and then you would just need to validate it. However, other instruments might indeed work better. Or consider objective measures such as accelerometers if you have the resources.

There is only one 'but' ......All author's questionnaires are original, unique so later after obtaining results it is hard to compare data....with other international research .
We would like to conduct research on PA in many eastern Countries so we need something comparable later with Western countries' data.

Actually, it is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.
An article (Armstrong & Bull, 2006) says that it is a suitable physical activity surveillance instrument for developing countries. But another study (Bull et al., 2009) was testing its reliability and validity compared to IPAQ in 9 countries including developed countries ; Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Portugal and South Africa. They concluded that it is "a suitable and acceptable instrument for monitoring physical activity in population health surveillance systems".
Still, if you're conducting a study and want to compare it to other studies that used IPAQ-PA, it would be wiser to use the same tool. However, I believe GPAQ is gaining in popularity, it is already used by some 50 countries to monitor physical activity in population health surveillance systems.

I get your point with comparing data. This might also be a problem because the same questionnaires could work differently in different countries. You could check the Global Observatory for Physical Actvitiy-they have data for many countries - collected with GPAQ http://www.globalphysicalactivityobservatory.com/country-cards/
