SDAS follows coarsening laws during solidification and the Fuerer-Wunderlin equation is quite accurate. Hence, SDAS changes with 1/3 power of solidification time (or -1/3 power of solidification rate). Please also keep in mind that the perceived effect of SDAS on properties is only a correlation and NOT causation. The improvement in ductility when SDAS is low is actually a functipn of the cleanness of the metal.
