Is there anyway to carry out POA (nonlinear static analysis) in SAP2000 for shell elements? I know the procedure for frame elements but what about for case of shell elements such as slab of bridge. For example, if I want to load to failure the bridge deck that is made of shell elements, how may I have the ultimate load-displacement curve?
Also:
-Do we need to have nonlinear static dead load case prior to running pushover load case? If yes, then we need to change the mass source as well?
-Is the effect of reinforcement modelled in section designer considered for pushover?

I tried that, but layered shells would work for slabs, I need it for bridge deck where you have connection with girders as well. As you know, in CSI software, bridge decks are created by shell elements

I didn't know about this, this seems to work. Would you give me some clues how to do it? I have CSiBridge and SAP latest versions, and my analysis are mostly related to bridges.
To get ultimate load-deflection curve for bridges in CSI software, I can only add hinges to piers in order to find out at what load the pier will fail under vehicular loading considering the material NL. However, for bridge assessment deck is also very important; so I need to carry out pushover analysis for deck (deck consist of slab and girder such as box girder or slab-on-girder decks). I've been kicking my thoughts for some time now to find a way to do that, but no success so far. I appreciate if you shed some light on this.

Good call, this would work for slab-typed decks. Imagine in case of box girder where you have flanges and webs and slabs connected, each one has different reo (reinforcement). So, if we want to assign each one a separate NL shell altered section then the pattern of reo would be simple rectangular block (by default only option). Though, this approach would work I reckon if I define the deck slab only as shell layered with corresponding reo. IN that case, I just need to run NL static analysis but how then I get the load-displacement curve for it?
I really appreciate mate if you access me to push over analysis example for layered shell elements.

Thanks for your reply, I need more time to get to know the technique, because this seems more easier than NL layered shell elements. If you happen to have/know any general/customized CSI model in which it has/shows fibre technique for shells; it'd be great if you share.

I am figuring out possible approaches. In CSI, bridge deck also can be represented as spine model (lumped-sum mass) made of frame elements. Doing that, probably to some extent the failure of deck at ultimate load can be represented. I'll see how it goes.
