I would like to set up a pilot study to investigate the role of a certain receptor in the development and maintenance of several T-cell subtypes (both CD4+ and CD8+ as well as various forms of memory).
My question is, does anybody have any links to articles where they perform a similar type of study so I can get an idea of the required sample size? I would look at CD56- CD3+ TCRab+ cells, and use CD45RA/CD45RO/CCR7 as additional parameters to evaluate maturity.
I was thinking of using 6 mice in each group (WT vs KO) but am unsure if this is robust enough.

Liselotte Mackens I do not think you need to count on other papers to evaluate this kind of statistic details. The publication of a paper depends a lot on the reviewers and their mood at the time of reading!
I would suggest you to keep at lease 4 mice in each group and repeat the experiment at least 2 times (n=8), if you wish to publish your data in a good journal.
