Phase change materials (PCM) find novel application in energy storage and heat transfer enhancement. Paraffin based nano PCMs have core and shell structure. Any one have faced problem of rupture of these PCMs and spread of paraffin in a cooling circuit say in a Plate heat exchanger?
in the energy section PCM can be used in the energy storage as well as in cooling systems. The different PCMs were Paraffin wax (RT20), Eutectic mixture of capriclauric acid (C–L), Eutectic mixture of capricpalmitic acid (C–P), pure salt hydrate (CaCl2·6H2O), and Commercial blend (SP22) are utlilized int he PV cooling systems.and you can refere to the the following paper to read more " Cooling methodologies of photovoltaic module for enhancing electrical efficiency: A review"
Thanks for the comment Mr Hussein. I am interested to know the durability of PCM in a cooling circuit where lot of bends, sharp ends, plates etc are there. When these PCM nanoparticles flow along with coolant whether they will rupture in contact with metal components in flow path? any experience ? If they rupture then wax will mix with coolant.

I currently work on passive battery thermal management systems based on phase change material (PCM Robiterm 27) and have simulated the porous paraffin wax zone with nano carbon particles added to it.
In order to prevent the material from being settling down, you need to put it in ULTRA SONIC Shower for about 72 hours - 96 hours.

enhancement of heat transfer performance through the electronic component can be accomplished in different way such as using nanofluid especially PCM or using rough surface of the mother broad where the rough element increase the turbulence intensity however, the obstacles of the flow may lead to separation of nano particles that depends on number of parameters the size of the nano partial, Reynolds number, and so no.

Ultrasonication is for dispersion of nano particles to form a stable nanofluid. My question is what is the durability of PCM structure i.e. how long core and shell structure remains intact when it flows through a cooling circuit due to collision with pipes/ tubes or any other components?
As Mr Hussein mentioned it depends on number of parameters, I agree. Is there any study report available on this aspect?
