In GeoStudio, you are correct that you can assign only one material to a specific region or zone. However, if you want to model the variation of Ru (seepage flow factor) within the core of a heterogeneous earth dam, you can use a technique called "zonation" or "zonal discretization." Here's how you can approach this:

Create Multiple Zones for the Core:Instead of trying to assign multiple materials to a single zone for the core, create multiple zones within the core region. Each of these zones will represent a different value of Ru.

Define Material Properties for Each Zone:For each zone representing a different value of Ru, define the appropriate material properties in GeoStudio. You mentioned you have values ranging from 0 to 0.7, so assign the corresponding values of Ru to these zones.

Assign the Zones to the Core Region:Once you have defined the material properties for each zone, assign these zones to the core region in GeoStudio. GeoStudio allows you to assign different zones to different regions of your model.

Set Up Boundary Conditions:After assigning the zones, make sure to set up appropriate boundary conditions, initial conditions, and source/sink terms for your seepage analysis. Ensure that these conditions reflect the variations in Ru within the core.

Run the Analysis:Run the seepage analysis in GeoStudio. The software will consider the different material properties for each zone within the core and simulate the seepage accordingly.

Analyze the Results:After the analysis is complete, you can analyze the results to understand how the variation in Ru affects seepage through different parts of the core.

By using this zonation approach, you can effectively model the heterogeneous nature of the earth dam core with varying Ru values. Each zone will represent a different value of Ru, allowing you to capture the variations in seepage behavior within the core.
