I am just beginning to study RIS (reactive impedance surfaces) for my antenna structure miniaturization. I would like to know as to what should be my approach as there is no direct formulation available for the size of RIS. Moreover what all 2D shapes can be used for RIS.

hi Ashish, in my experience:
if you have to write a paper for some journal, it's a good matter; but if you have to build something which has to operate in the real world, forget about RIS and similar subjects! :-)
0k..i completely with you Vasco. Indeed i am working on a research project. Please suggest me some good accessible material on RIS.
One thing i would like to know is, all the researches now a days are meant or based on some real world application then why did you say tht this field has limited or no scope for practical applications.

I beg to defer Vasco, there are some niche areas wherin the EBG based antennas are best utilized, defense and aerospace being two. Yes, there is certainly limitations on this regards so as to map this technology onto commercial arena. But, is it it not the essence that drives us as researchers?
