Yes, that's an interesting question. What is the ultimate speed for macro-particles and living entities. For macro-particles it depends of the compound. Maybe the starship itself could be built to withstand 1/3 the speed of light, but with humans inside such a space ship, my calculations suggest that above 20% the speed of light that ionization would begin for animals and humans. In maybe no more than a few weeks before their organs would start to fail. After maybe several months they would die and disintegration would begin.
With current technology I think and calculate that the maximum speed limit for a very well-built craft, with a life protection chamber within it, would be no more than 10% the speed of light. Therefore our first stellar ships must be robotic maybe with mice or rats within it to determine a possible maximum speed limit for the craft, for life, and for the technology being tested.
