Full disclosure: trying to respond to an R&R. The reviewer (#2, no not joking) argues that social media memes have a limited audience and wants that discussed in the paper. There's plenty of literature that argues that the audience for "social media" is actually fairly broad demographically, although, granted, there are some audiences left out due to internet penetration. Does anyone know of any data specific to memes?
