Dear all, hope you are well at the moment.

I am trying to simulate with Simulink-Simscape a low voltage microgrid including one voltage-source converter. This VSC is to operate as grid-supporting converter governed by droop when the MG is connected to the grid and as grid-forming converter when the MG is in island mode.

At the beginning of the simulation, the MG PCC breaker is closed and the converter breaker is open. While the VSC is in operation with its breaker open, the reference voltage to the PWM modulator is created by a SRF-PLL so that said reference voltage follows the grid voltage. This is to synchronize the converter voltage to the grid voltage.

After the converter breaker has closed, the reference voltage to the converter follows the droop.

In spite of the above approach, I note that when the converter closes its breaker to synchronize to the grid an overcurrent is experienced, though the converter output voltage should be equal to the grid voltage, both being synchronized by the PLL.

I would appreciate that you can suggest to me any guidelines to debug my Simscape model or alternatively any paper that could provide with some guidance. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Juan
