The relationship between form and meaning varied through historical periods as a result of the nature of thinking changes reflecting specifically on that relationship. I am looking for characteristics of communication and interpretation act of such relationship through Modernism and Post-Modernism periods.

Charles Jencks in his book “Critical modernism, were is post-modernism going?” Wiley-Academy “2007 p. 9, drew attention to the fact that at all stages of the development of European architecture from the 3rd century to the 20th century there were always opposing architectural ideologies that reflected the political struggle between social groups within the state. In order to distinguish Modernism from Postmodernism, attention should be paid to time and the place of appearance of the architectural work, the content of the applied architectural signs and the state of spatial consciousness of the architect.
In relation to fashion, some architects may not have special spatial views, and rely on the patterns pervasions spread by the media. In opposite there are architects who do not pay attention to spatial fashion but try to come up with a (new professional or unprofessional) alternative spatial ideology. However, in the plane of political activity, they can be representatives of both new resurgent communities and old ones. Modernism has always been focused on social risk as constructivists, and postmodernism on conservative moods as deconstructivists. In both directions there are professional leaders and epigones.
Modernists attempted to construct a coherent world-view... on the contrary, post-modern thinkers held/hold that there is no universal truth. Hence, the difference between these two schools of thought would be that in post-modernism, space, place and time are seen in accordance to the context.
