I accidentally uploaded a wrong preprint of a different author(it was a journal article) into a preprint server. I have withdrawn the article and the article is now not accessible with the reason shown on the website as " A wrong Pre-print was accidentally uploaded in this site, for this reason, the preprint is withdrawn. A Newly updated and the corrected preprint is accessible at the new site ".
Unfortunately by the time my withdrawal request was approved there were already 8 downloads by unknown researchers of that article on the website. I am very worried that they might accuse me of plagiarism in future
Will, I will still be convicted of Plagiarism charges in the future, if it so how can I resolve this issue?
I do not think you will be charged with plagiarism, simply because of common sense. Plagiarism has something to do with an intention to steal, and the preprint that you accidentally uploaded did not contain your name within it.
