I have two nitrile groups and I would like to reduce them to amine, but the problem is that the compound doesn't dissolve in THF and ether, only in DMSO. What should I do if I want to use LiAl H4?
Can you consider a different solvent such as dioxane or diglyme? You may be able to dissolve your compound in.
Alternatively catalytic hydrogenation to reduce the nitrile groups could work depending on the rest of your molecule
Maybe it would be helpful to hydratize the nitriles to primary amides prior to reduction? Hydrogen peroxide provides a simple way to to so.
