I thought you might find this paper helpful. It explains how we converted answers to open-ended questions into ordinal data and then analysed them using ordinal logistic regression (OLR). While your current approach is still qualitative, this could give you an idea of how qualitative codes can later be structured for quantitative analysis.

If you have already coded your data, I do not see much point in recoding it ("intra-coder" agreement).

The whole idea of "manual" coding has gotten somewhat blurry, as I often see people applying that label even when they use software. The reason is that software packages mostly just replicate what you would do when truly working by hand -- marking up transcripts for later searching. So, if you are satisfied with your current process, there is probably little to be gained by adding software to that process.

But if you are still interested in software, you might consider Taguette, which is free.

Thank you, David L Morgan. It makes perfect sense what you wrote. I suppose that software can be handy for presenting results, especially in a more quantitative way, and not just within continuous text. Or for easier singling out the particular cases within the sample for further analysis. I will definitely try out the software you suggested, especially for my other research.
