thank you Anders. This paper is very useful for my purpose and the total C storage by the humus layer at country level is impressive. Exactly what I expected. Nevertherless is there something similar taking into account the deeper layers (until root ends) in a total C balance?

Glad to hear that item was useful. Honestly I have no idea on any useful paper on the whole C storage/balance, and I did add a follow as I hope to see someone give an answer and link a paper on your original question. This is nothing I work on professionally, yet forestry / harvesting operations do affect my study area. So this is of some interest for me.
