I have novel data from two unpublished interventions on one particular gene and gene product. These data are interesting as they are, since this is a very little studied protein (10 entries or so in PubMed). However, when I read the litterature on related topics I see this gene pop up in other already published data-sets. Sometimes as supplementary data or in some kind of large table. Other times I have re-analyzed data-sets from GEO/ArrayExpress/PRIDE etc.

Now, even though this protein pops up sporadically in more than the 10 publications in PubMed, it is not focused on or even not mentioned at all in many articles.

So the question is, would it be a good thing for me to collect all this interesting data, put it into the context of my paper and re-publish as a separate figure?

Of course with proper citations etc., but could it be that reviewers do not approve of such a "mini-meta analysis"?
