i could not understand your questions precisely. However, i try to give a conceptual answer base on the nature of the circuit elements you mentioned and their uses. The resistance is used to limit the current a circuit with constant voltage source. The capacitor is used to store electrical energy in its electric field. The transistor is used to interrupt the current paths. That is it can on and off the current to a specific load.

To produce pulses one can just have a power supply, a load which is a resistance in its ideal form, then the transistor can be used to interrupt the current flow as it can work as swish, Therefore i can not understand why it can not act as to deliver a constant energy pulses to the load. We can control the duration of the pulse and since the load is constant, The pulse energy will be constant. If the load is not constant, one can use constant current sources to deliver the current and then switch this controlled current. Pulses with specific energy can be produced by charging a capacitor to a specific voltage and discharging it into the load. The charging and discharging can be controlled by transistors acting as switches. One can use resistors to limit the charging and discharging process.

Actually Sir, what I was concerned about that why in the case of Micro-EDM, we always go for RC based circuits? and why not for transistor-based circuits?

I know that in case of transistor-based circuits, we can change Ton,Toff,DF but we cannot achieve short pulse duration .Why?? whereas in case of RC based circuits, we can get small discharge energy required for finishing by minimizing / varying the capacitance ; but we don't have any provision for Ton, Toff parameters in RC circuits. So why we always say that for finishing and low MRR application, we always use RC based circuits?

First of all, I am pleased that there are researchers who are interested in process energy sources (PES). The discussion so far has been quite chaotic, so I should like to make a few important remarks.

1. The load with which you apply the PES is important for the result of your processing. When doing this, I also need to look at total impedance, especially when doing micromachining.

2. Every ED arrangement has its minimum capacitance and inductance, as well as its effective resistance, so that we naturally do not come below certain pulse parameters. If we want to achieve very short pulse durations and very high working currents, then we have to implement special circuit arrangements taking the load into account. Transistor-based PES are mostly limited by the times that the transistors need to switch and to clear. For very low currents we can implement what the EDM requires, but that is not enough to implement higher currents.

3. The opinion that RC sources always provide the same pulse energy is of course wrong, because the charging time of the capacitor depends on the contamination of the working gap. This also creates "pause times" that are several times longer than the discharge times. Ideally, the charging voltage is 72% of the maximum capacitor voltage.

4. There are also PES versions, which are basically a combination of basic PES. For most users, however, it is only important which PES parameters are dependent and which are independent, so that they can carry out a correct optimization.

5. Unfortunately, the machine manufacturers do not always state the real physical parameters, so it makes sense for all investigations to measure the pulses (current and voltage) and then analyze them.

6. Whether you are using a current source or a voltage source is important to know because it can change your regulation parameters.
