- Water-use efficiency (WUE), defined as the ratio of net primary productivity (NPP) to evapotranspiration (ET). But Rain Use efficiency (RUE) (the ratio of standing biomass / rainfall) is a simple way accessible to most researchers without complicated calculation evaluating evapotranspiration.

- The one on " FROM INVENTORY TO MONITORING IN SEMI-ARID AND ARID RANGELANDS " is a paper I wrote years ago

- as for the one " Rain-Use-Efficiency: What it Tells us about the Conflicting Sahel Greening and Sahelian Paradox " it is using the NDVI - not really working on sparse vegetation in arid Mediterranean zones .

I think I mentioned the problems using RUE in sub-Saharan and Sahelian zones - some still receiving summer rain. and not the case in arid Mediterranean zones ( exclusively winter rainfall) - see Article A spatial desertification indicator for Mediterranean arid r...

Anything published on the subject in arid zones in India ?
