For as long as I know, my almost all chemistry department of my university synthetize quinones and derivatives. However, looking at the literature we can see numerous papers describing the promiscuous behavior of this class of compounds. Many papers, including the one by Baell and coworkers advise to remove or at least show that their activity is genuine.
I've seen quinones as anticancer, antibacterial and many other biological activities and most of these publications are from academic researchers. So, my doubt is: are quinones really that bad in Drug Discovery projects?
