I’m working on use CO2 laser(10.6um) to melt different polymers and trying to see if I can get some data on light absorption because some of the polymers don’t melt well, I’m working on to figure out if it’s the laser energy absorptance issue.

I’m wondering since the FTIR is used to characterize polymer composition, but if I only look at the 10.6um wavelength in FTIR data, is it represent the laser absorptance of a certain material? Which I mean if for certain material the Absorptance at 10.6um is 20%, is it mean it only absorbs 20% laser energy?

Thank you for your time!!
