You might find the Change Monitoring System (CMS) developed by 'Shiree' (a DfID/Govt of Bangladesh programme for Economic Empowerment of the Extreme Poor http://www.shiree.org/) to be useful or of interest. Most of the very marginalised beneficiaries are excluded from formal banking and often do not want to take micro-finance loans. Contact the new Research and Advocacy manager there who might be able to assist - he is also the contact point for a number of the partner NGO's research officers. You could also contact another NGO - iDE - in Dhaka who I think are involved in similar research, with women garment workers for instance.
