Hi I was wondering how third world and developing countries can adhere to EBP when most of these guidelines were based on the technologies and research done in countries where resources are sufficient. So my question is how do developing countries keep up with these set standards and evidence? Or do they need to create their own evidence based on what they currently have and use those standards and guidelines instead? Ideas? star
Thanks for your comments. I totally agree with you that patients should not be looked at mere disease entities nor treated as diagnoses using a cookbook approach. My biggest issue in today's healthcare environment is the manner in which healthcare providers like myself are being stretched thin with regulations, paperwork and guidelines. If you are familiar with the healthcare reform, i realized that the issues are far worse that what most of us are aware of. It scares me that decisions about our health is left to politicians and businessmen. They absolutely have no clue on the "real world" of healthcare delivery. Am I the only who is concerned about this?
I am going to Vietnam for an education mission and in the process I found out that the biggest hospital regulatory agency is attempting to have hospitals in developing countries certified based on EBP guidelines established in this country. How can this be even feasible, even possible?
Your thoughts? How can we create change among a people who do not want to change? I have decided to focus my energy in Asia as people do welcome new information over there. They are pretty good in processing western knowledge and combine it with their indigenous health practices.
