If a researcher is the Chief Investigator on the relevant approved Ethical application, having designed the experiments, obtained ethical approval and been responsible for previous teaching of methods/protocols used (to the first author), even though they may not have been instrumental in obtaining the data presented in a manuscript, are they still entitled to at least second last author on the manuscript? (without it being considered a gift-authorship?)
