My suggestion would be to install Quantum ESPRESSO in Linux. Read about Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). You can install WSL on windows system and can use LINUX simultaneously.

Installing Quantum ESPRESO on Linux is fairly simple, please let me know if further help is required.

On which version of Windows? According to the QE web page you have different option if using Windows 10 and up.

what also do you by the ’step by step’ instructions? Where did you get them?
