What aspect is generally more valued in scientific publications if you can get a research-based job: Quality or quantity?. I am currently a PhD student (materials science area), and I would appreciate any opinion about this issue.
Quality is always good. Some decision makers also look at quantity, but mere quantity without quality will not be helpful. A few papers of good quality accepted by peer-reviewed journals are better than many paper in low-quality journals. Avoid predatory journals:
Both are important. Scientific societies always appreciate the quality of research, and it could contribute on decision makings and have its impact on advancement of knowledge. In the other hand, reviewing at a glance, the number of research works will always be impressive. Especially in the world of machines and digitization, the higher the number of publications the higher credit would be received.
