Most of the people think Pyramids are Tombs of Pharaoh. If we look at the plan considerations in those giant pyramids we will see very good similarities with modern doomsday bunkers.
Saving humanity, saving civilization (documentation for future generation), monitoring outside environment, support a new start, etc.

Doomsday bunkers are not always 100% buried underground, they also have above ground component to enter, communication and monitoring

From a modern view, they are tombs.
But in a Society that believes in the Afterlife, they may have served as safe havens for important people, for when they are to be resurrected.
So Doomsday bunkers, maybe, depending on the context one sees Life in?

The pyramids have more than a message, although their primary function, according to the beliefs of the peoples and civilizations that have emerged, is the commemoration of the pharaohs. It also has a civilization message that is manifested in conveying the image of life and the civilized life that these ancient peoples had in time.

Surely, Pyramids are records of ancient civilization.
From different documentation, it is very clear that ancient Egyptians were very smart and they were very expert astrology. It means, they had they capacity to forecast future same as Mayan.
The main question is why they made Pyramids, all the giant structures. Tombs, afterlife journey, immortality could me myth or true. Even-though, many people consider Pyramids as tombs, no mummy was found inside the Pyramids.
If our scientist can predict that, they earth will face a massive disaster in near future (with scientific evidence), and our human race can be destroyed severely or entirely. What you will do? How you will prepare?
