Just trying to understand the modern thinking about 'reality' because reality is a subject which has been questioned and analysed in all generations by all the great scholars, either it is scientific persuite or humanities we all are actually heading towards new definitions of reality through which we all exists.
Please participate in this discussion with your own reality, with your own definition of reality. We all need to have a clear idea about this great word because the dilution which has been called as Maya in hinduism will take us into more materialized form of knowledge.
As I developed a cosmology implied by the survival hypothesis, it became evident that I needed to define reality as aspects of a more fundamental, evolving reality. The assumptions I made are that there is a Source, we are an aspect of Source, we are in an avatar relationship with our human and we are guided by an urge to gain understanding about the nature of reality. These are the basic premises of Spiritualism.
My personal reality is body-centric, meaning that I experience reality from the perspective of my human avatar. My home is in a town, which is in a country which is in the world. I deal with the Internet and entertainment media based on my personal interests. The information that is my personal reality is based on that exposure.
Other people have their personal reality.
It is becoming known that perception is based on personal reality. We assign meaning to sensed information so that physical senses tell us what we have been taught. Local reality is the collective view of persons. Local reality is what a non-duelist would call actual reality.
Thus, we have a personal reality as an aspect or subset of local reality.
If there is a greater reality, and if we do have the urge to gain understanding, the greater reality is necessarily a collective view. Here, I should say that the collective is not limited to earth or the physical but may include other venues for learning.
I have no datapoints for a top reality. My speculation is that actual reality is the Source life field. If that is true, then Source is gaining understanding about itself, and therefore, actual reality is evolving as we gain understanding and contribute it to the collective.
That is the essence of my speculation. I think it will evolve some, but whatever form it takes, it must answer the same issues of perception and purpose.
Hi. 'Existence' and 'reality' are a different concept. 'Exist' answered "what there is?", i. e. Conceptual objects, material objects, numbers, etc. Is a list of separates entities. Is independent our think (exist per se). 'Reality' mean "being true, significative, real". For Schaffer, Fine and other grounding authors, reality is the structure of entities and process. Is the list of Ontology ordered, with a fundamental (God, Law of Heaven, the ego, the dharmas) and a funtamentation. I have written thereon ("Antecedentes metafísicos del concepto 'ser' de Sartre").
