Hi, everybody

As a #chemicalEngineer with a background in #biomedicalEngineering, I want to know if it is proper to change my research area and major through developing in research world?

Chemical engineering is basically about processing chemicals. But I decided to go into a major of chemical engineering that involves health and biomedicine, like tissue engineering and biosensors. And now I’m interested in another emerging field: the combination of biological engineering and data science. I love creating and designing, and I want to try my chance in #syntheticBiology. Also, I’m still in a chemical engineering school, this time as a #PhD student. Can I set my PhD thesis about synthetic biology, while I’m studying and affiliated to chemical engineering? Is it going to be a good idea, or do you suggest for me to change my #discipline and go to another school? Is it obligatory, or maybe you can suggest that I stay in my own field that I have enough experience and basic knowledge about? Is this level of desire to pursue new things something proper and usual and considered fine, or is it a disease that I should avoid? Thank you for your patience and your kind responses, my dear friends.

P.S: I've posted an earlier version of this question and changed it a bit this time
