The number of journals and publishing groups are increasing very rapidly these days. There are hundreds of publishers and hundreds of standalone journals. Personally I am not sure whether they are really interested to disseminate new findings or just to make money. As an author it is becoming seriously difficult for an individual researcher, especially who have no much experience in publishing their work to judge the quality or suitability of journal (time consuming).
As an author/researcher how do you find the whole process of publication?
Do you prefer a standalone journal or a journal in a publishing group, like elsevier, springer, wiley, etc?

it is an important question for authors
more than 200 scientists asked questions on RG, about publication fees or free journals, far less than the 200 asked about journal quality
However publishing group has its benefits for editor publisher and author
the publisher business will grow . the Editor will have better ranking journal , the author will be sure that his work is well processed before publishing
on the other hand there are many stand alone successful journals
Yes Dr Saifeldin, there are excellent journal both standalone and published by various publishers.
The reason for asking this question was that as you know (and thanks for your support) we recently started a new journal (international journal of agricultural and environmental research - ijaaer.com), which is doing well as a standalone journal. We also received offers from several publishers whether we would like to join their publishing group, so as an editor in chief I wanted to know what researcher feel above these publishing group. I thought it will give me some idea whether to keep it as it is (standalone journal) or whether join a publishing group.

Researchers use Beall's list for journals and publishers to avoid as stated above. You can avoid the publishers, too. Researchers also use databases such as Scopus, Web of Science and Norwegian Index. I suggest you avoid some indexing database especially those that mimic Thomson Reuter's impact factor. I have seen some of them on your website. Please ensure quality review. I think the two weeks stated in the reviewer's guidelines might be too short. You might consider increasing the period to one month.

I am aware of this Beal's list, but I dont agree with every thing that have listed, may agree with some.In the list there are some publishers, which are reasonably good publishers.
There is another list of publishers, "top journal publishers": http://www.scijournal.org/top-international-journal-publisher.shtml. In this list you will find many journals/publishers which are listed in the Beall's list as predatory.
Anyway, I appreciate your comments and we need to be aware and careful. This is actually I wanted to hear so that we can raise these points and make our readers more aware of these issues.
