it is better to save our efforts by publishing data in a well reputed journals, that has either impact factor or not, but must be listed in SCI, ISI, Thomas and reuter, etc.
I agree that journals with impact factor are the most prestigious and for many of us also important for our career. As far as publication in non - impact factor journal is concerned I recommend those indexed in ESCI database.
Depending on where you are, it may be acceptable to publish in journals that have no impact factors. In Hong Kong it is out of the question, it can be seen as a blemish on your CV as such publications cannot be used to substantiate your position and are useless when it comes to research assessment. If you wish to establish yourself, you definitely need to at the very least publish in journals that have impact factors. Any journal that has an impact factor is ranked within a discipline and it is much better than one that doesn't have an impact factor. I would not recommend publishing in ESCI journals. I've seen some low impact journals go to the top so the important thing is to select only these with coverage in the Journal Citation Reports. Impact factors fluctuate so you can be lucky and get a paper in a low impact journal when the acceptance rate is higher that then becomes high impact after a number of years with a higher rate of rejection.
Each publication, regardless of the scientific journal in which it is part of the researcher's achievements. However, articles published in magazines renowned with impact factor obtain higher recognition and are then more frequently quoted, they are also higher scored in the scientific achievements of the affiliating institution in which the researcher is employed.
Impact factor is undoubtedly one of the most important factors for selecting journals to publish one's research paper. On numerical point of view it may however, be high or low, as per quality, citation, regularity, visibility and many other standard yardstick to judge the potential by the competent authority both at national as well as international level.
But there are, of course, some exceptional journals having no impact factors, but maintaining high standard and claiming appreciation by the researchers. These are few in number.
As a matter of fact, most researchers do not like these and prefer journaks with adequate impact factor.
My institution offers financial prizes for publishing in both journals(with/ with no impact factor), it`s all about publishing in ISI indexed journals or in other well known journals that are recognized by your institution. However, financial prize for publishing in journals with no impact factor is comparatively too few.
In addition, if this is a free journal, it may be OK.. Don`t waste your money publishing in a journal with no impact factor for fees that are similar to ones with impact factor.
If you have budget, and if you want the best credibility, then you have to publish in an ISI indexed journal, or in a journal that is recommended by your institution.. Publishing in such journals in not free.. in fact, it`s expensive.
