Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to use pre-made COD vials for the determination of COD in solid samples (high solids anaerobic waste, straw, etc.). I have read various papers of how to prep for the open reflux method, but we use pre-made vials in our lab and would like to continue to do so.

The open reflux method is the most suitable method to measure COD in semi-solid samples. Refer the paper for more information.

If you are going to use pre-made COD vials to analyze COD in those samples, you should dilute samples many times and makesure to use 250–15,000 mg/L high range pre-made COD vials.
