Thanks for the info. We looked there before and were unable to find it; have checked again just a minute ago and still could not find it. Could you please provide me with the catalog number to make sure we both are talking about the same compound (with due respect)? Need it as a starting material for a total synthesis project. Will need more than 1 gram for sure.

For o-formylation of phenol: To a solution of nitrophenol (0.01 mol) and hexamethylenetetramine (0.01 mol) in distilled acetic acid (25 ml), distilled acetic anhydride (0.03 mol) was added. The mixture was boiled gently for 1 h., then allowed to cool to room temp. A mixture of 6N-HCl (10 ml) and methanol (5 ml) was added to the reaction and the reaction was warmed to ~80 C for 1/2 h. Add methanol (30 ml) and allow the mixture to stand for 1/2 h at room temp. Evaporate in vacuo and extract the residue with benzene. The benzene was evaporated and the product was purified by Column Chromatography. See
