I want to predict the future position of a vehicle in a two dimensional road. The number of lanes are varying over the stretch of the road and I want to predict the future position of the vehicle(the position(may be x & y coordinate and the lane number) during the simulation. The position should be calculated while the simulation is running. The vehicles are free to change lanes in case of lane reduction. Is there any way to predict the positions dynamically during the simulation?

The question is not clear, the simulators, in every "dt", predict the future position of the vehicle based on the car-following model (for example in VISSIM is Wiedemann, ecc.)

Actually I want to predict what would be the position and the state of the vehicle after say 5 min from a particular time during the simulation. I need this information to performs various proactive triggers.
For example when the simulation is running, say I 5th minute of the simulation I want to know(at that instant only) what would be the possible position after further 5 minutes i.e 10th minute of the simulation. It would be easy to predict on a straight road(1 dimensional road) using basic car following models. But I want to know if there is a way to predict the positions on curved roads.
I am designing a proactive trigger for the variable speed limit design on a real road.

You could simulate the Y position of the vehicle through a stochastic process or considering simply the classical position of the vehicle when cornering
you can use the vehicles' position in current link, which is the DRIVING distance from the start of current link to its current location.
