Precision Agriculture (which means intervening at the right time and in the best place with the right dose) is becoming more and more important in the world not only in developed countries but also in developing countries in which it arouses interest.

Precision Agriculture, which is based on high technology, certainly has its advantages in increasing yields both in cultivated plants and in animals, especially on large farms. Thanks to drones and sensors in the field, several factors are controlled such as irrigation and fertilization. In animals and thanks to digital technology, it is possible to monitor the health and growth of livestock.

So as the name suggests, it's all about being precise about spacial location of information and thus producing more while applying less inputs and energy.

Many advantages of course, but some specialists emphasize the importance or even the necessity of the quality of the input data because the latter will necessarily impact the quality of the final decision. On the other hand, according to some specialists, because of all data is tainted with uncertainty it is that it is essential to be able to measure and quantify this uncertainty and also take it into account in the final decision / application.

Thus, it turns out that, precision agriculture requires learning new technological and environmental skills as well as managerial skills. Therefore, it is important to incorporate it into training systems for a good mastery of all its tools.

Finally, precision agriculture could be useful for the future and for the sustainability of agricultural production if it is done while respecting Diversity and protecting the Soil and the Environment. However and particularly in countries newly concerned by this type of agriculture, it is necessary before its implementation to take preliminary studies to assess its benefits and impacts on the environment and to decide on the locations of its implementation as well as the identification of the types of farms as well as the sensitization of farmers for this type of agriculture but also the estimate of its costs. In addition, its success also requires knowledge and permanent supervision by agricultural advisory services.

Definitely. Precision Agriculture needs to be included the professional education. As pointed out it is essential to adopt such technologies for sustaining the agriculture and for ensuring food security. PA deals with the 4 R principle and hence it will ensure sustainaility and economic profitability

There is no doubt about the relevance of precision agriculture. Rather the analysis of such technologies and their implications should form the priority areas.

Precision Agriculture is the eventual pathway for the development of modern agriculture. Due to the scarce nature of resources, the efficient use of them is required for a sustainable and consistent supply of these resources.

Precision Agriculture aims to improve management at field level in relation to:

Crop science: by matching agricultural practices with crop needs (such as fertilizer inputs)

Environmental protection: by reducing environmental risks and the agricultural footprint (for example: reducing nitrogen leaching)

Precision agriculture is just a tool that, added to cover crops, balanced nutrient inputs, protection of soil organisms, reduced use of chemical synthesis products, integration with livestock and many other tools, it will favor the maintenance and quality of the soil and environment.

Precision agriculture as the definition of the PA is suggesting that it is highly data driven based agriculture system. So if we get the appropriate information about the requirements of the agriculture farm our input will be reduced and on the other hand productivity will rise. Ecological aspect is very crucial as it is possible when we use the agriculture in the balanced way by thinking of future generations, which is also in the definition of the precision agriculture. Mechanisation is very important for the growing of high yielding varieties for the mitigation of hunger problem. Not by just growing but the supply to the needy is very crucial and yes it is very much possible by collecting appropriate information about the requirements of the people and by which growing of suitable crop in suitable land and for the habitat requirement based agriculture is possible.

Yes, because of the important role that precision agriculture can play in sustainability and increased productivity, it should be included in professional education. However, any course on precision agriculture should be balanced, highlighting not only the benefits of the method, but also the challenges/ disadvantages of precision agriculture, the main one being that such technology is still too expensive for the average farmer in developing countries. Gaps have also been identified in the use of precision farming technologies by farmers in developing countries, due to a lack of technical capacity among them, the lack of use of local languages in utilizing precision agriculture, and the lack of technology suitable for local/traditional crops and agriculture.
