The literature review work confuses me since there are papers claiming LDPE as polyethylene and other uses polythene or polyethene. Which one is the correct name for LDPE (low density polyethylene or polythene or polyethene),please?

Hi, polyethylene is the most used name. Polyethene is also correct, but rarely used. Polythene is wrong, probably typo. I would recommend low density polyethylene, that´s what everyone understands.

the correct name is low density polyethylene. The word polyethylene refers to the whole family of this polymer (LDPE, HDPE, LLDPE, UHMWPE, ...). There are at least 7 types of polyethylenes. Sometimes it is named polymethylene instead of polyethylene, as whether the repeating unit is considered as -CH2-CH2- or simply -CH2-. regards
