Abstract

This study focuses on Oil, Gas, Pipeline construction and how states institutions perpetuate inequalities in Uganda. The study employs a political economy and discourse analysis approach to show how different classes will benefit (in terms of employment, business growth, oil revenues) from the production and particular focus on Oil and its Pipeline construction. We go further to ascertain the transformation gap created by oil exploration among the internally displaced Ugandans (children, women, polygamous families) and how international capitalism is penetrating Uganda’s economy in the name of globalization, internationalization, and expatriate staff. We hypothesize that the Oil resource curse is unavoidable given the history of resource mismanagement in Uganda for instance corruption, poor accountability in limited access to information among vulnerable citizens.
