@Osman. My feeling is that it will be difficult to prove your hypothesis. My alternative hypothesis is that the CS researchers know the culture and the rules of the "game of research" and have gone straight to implementing optimal solutions. "Publish high; publish quick; give useful results; write clearly, be concise; be precise; build on each other; document useful new tools and techniques (your idea)."

I do agree with above comments and would add that ranking criteria may vary somehow in different regions of the world. During my work in South Korea, I noticed that ranking has become essential to best schools and indeed a matter of prestige.
