Hi, everyone. I already synthesized the zinc oxide nanoparticles using ( the pellets of bacteria with lysis buffer + zinc nitrate 0.25 M). However, I have made characterization By DLS. Zeta potential was zero (no data), and the average Size was almost with the nano size.
please, could you tell me why the zeta potential was zero no data? can I check my sample with TEM even if it doesn't have zeta potential?

Zeta potential is a holistic property of an interface of (usually) a solid in a liquid. TEM is done in a vacuum. There's no relationship EXCEPT the way that the particles are prepared for TEM analysis. i.e., you may get significant aggregation if the particle concentration of the dispersion is high/zeta potential is low before evaporation of the liquid medium.
As for why you got "zero no data", what instrument? How did you prepare the sample? Can you post the data? If you have a Zetasizer Nano, post the .dts file.

1. The salt concentration is too high for your instrument (one reason I ask what it is)
2. The measurement may be complicated by the presence of the lysed bacteria.

Hello Ahmed Issa , if the zeta distribution is missing in the Zetasizer then this is due to the measurement method: for slow field reversal there will be no zeta distribution and therefore the distribution graph is missing. Most likely, the conductivity is relatively high and this leads to the automatic choice that only a mean zeta potential is measured.
Yes, you should be able to try DLS size measurements on your sample. And you could also try TEM on it. If you go for DLS first, since it may already be available, you should get a good indication of the size situation in your sample.
