To understand what and how miRNA contribute to the progression of disease and possibility to find these markers in blood.
I do not see the 'trial design' in your question. As well, it looks like you are investigating 'pathways' and 'mechanisms' which is not a clinical trial per say. First, try to formulate your research question in terms of PICO or PICODE as I have demonstrated during the workshop (or see http://researchguides.uic.edu/c.php?g=252338&p=1683349)
It's true. Not a clinical trial design. I am trying to help my colleagues from breast cancer unit, and the point has changed several times.
PICO research question -
P - TNBC
I - Prognostic factor for progression
C - serum and tumor for 89 miRNA associated with cancer (cancer pathway array)
O - To find prognostic factor (exact panel of miRNAs) in blood. Also, it can be a target for therapy in the future.
Question -
Is there a prognostic factor that can be found in blood for TNBC.
So we want to exam
N-5, with local disease. We want to examine 89miRNA in blood and tumor
N-5 with metastatic disease. in blood and tumor (or mets)
After we will figure out few miRNAs that are twice higher than in other group and will test it on bigger groups.
