For the vitellogenin analysis, blood is withdrawn using heparin coated vacutainers and kept for ~30min. Do I need to centrifuge the blood (for plasma separation) in heparin coated microcentrifuge tubes or I can use normal polypropylene centrifuge tubes?
You can transfer the blood to the regular centrifuge tubes and use them. Blood won’t clot.

Hi, Ruchika Sah . I am not aware of any specific protocol for vitellogenin analysis, but please, find attached a paper where this analysis was performed. Blood was collected and centrifuged in heparinized capillary tubes prior to the VTG evaluation. I think it is ok to collect in heparinized tubes, centrifuge in regular ones and them proceed to store or analyze the plasma.

Actually, I've read few guidelines/protocols related to collection of blood for vitellogenin analysis, and most of them have used the heparinised tubes for plasma separation. But as you mention I guess it won't make much of a difference if I centrifuge blood in regular tubes.
