•Phytochemical screening of Eruca sativa indicates the presence of:
• alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, flavonoids, phenolic, ascorbic acid, saponins and tannins in both seed and leaves (Gulfraz et al., 2011).
•* All these compounds are responsible for different bioactivities including antimicrobial activity against various pathogenic microorganisms (Ettebong and Nwafor, 2009).
•*Alkaloids are used as therapeutic agents for their analgesic, anti-spasmodic and bactericidal effects.
