I have noticed that there are peak clusters in 8plex iTRAQ labeled samples that look similar to the reporter ion peak clusters, except that the masses are off by a large m/z. There are 4 clusters of peaks, one near 130, one near 140, and two around 160. The ones near 130 and 140 are present only when the parent ion m/z is less than 350. The ones near 160 are present in two steps: either 1 m/z or 2 m/z.

I have attached a powerpoint file with sceenshots of the different types of peak clusters I have observed. I was wondering if others have observed these peak clusters in their experiments? Is it possible that these peak clusters are the result of non-specific fragmentation of 8plex iTRAQ tag?
