Why do you think most of us are SO passionate about global biodiversity inventory? Is it only because of ecological pyramids, the global biodiversity crisis and climate change? At the current rate, all species inventory would take ages to achieve. If a species hasn't been discovered and described yet, is it so important to catalog living things that we aren't aware of? Or it's all about us and the human nature?

Would you share your personal insight on this matter or provide a reference?
