Hello everyone,

I have a panel dataset consisting of 16 regions over 16 years, with 5 independent variables (IVs) and 1 dependent variable (DV). I am trying to understand all the best processes or statistical tests to perform for this kind of panel data. My main goal is to analyze both the short-term and long-term relationships between the variables. Is using a Panel VECM the right approach after confirming cointegration through the Johansen cointegration test? Or are there other methods I should consider for this type of analysis?

Also, some research papers I’ve come across transform their data into natural logs, while others don’t. When should I consider transforming my data into logs? What are the benefits and trade-offs of using logged variables versus the raw data?

I would appreciate any insights, tips, or references to relevant resources that can guide me through the proper steps and methodology for this kind of analysis.
